H2S - Here to Sell FREE initiative
Sometimes the affordable nature of eBid.net can encourage a form of non-performing seller
known to some as "dump and run". What happens is that a seller finds eBid, sees how low the fees
are and how easy it is to list long-term, puts up their items for sale... then stops paying attention!
This can be frustrating for buyers who think they've found a great item at a great price, only to
be greeted with total silence or a late abject apology from the non-seller in question. It's also
deeply frustrating for eBid's active sellers, since it's in danger of getting the
site a reputation as a place where you can try to buy but end up empty-handed.
eBid's active sellers are constantly doing all they can to encourage eBid to remove these inactive
sellers, but this is a long-term problem and eBid can sometimes seem a little preoccupied with
more urgent (to them) matters.
If we can't get the inactive sellers quickly removed, what can we do? We can at least make it as
clear as possible to potential buyers that we are there, we're paying attention,
our items are readily available and we're happy to sell them.
How does H2S help achieve that?
H2S is a FREE scheme whereby sellers can put a small graphical link (or "badge") on their items and/or about me page.
The badge is re-made each month to show the current month and year (done a few days in advance to allow
sellers to plan & pepare), and thus indicates that they have been actively supporting their listings
very recently. The graphic links to an information page that explains to the buyer what the
scheme is, and why they should be reassured bidding or buying from an H2S seller. The site is
not ecommerce enabled, to comply with eBid's rules about linking. There are, however
donation and advertising opportunities! The site is privately produced and funded by Kim Andrews, as a way to help
support eBid sellers, and anything you can do to help make it a success, and finance the running costs
will be very much appreciated.
All that the seller needs to do is bulk edit their listings, and/or alter their about me page, to
point to the latest month's badge. Full instructions for how to make the change simply using
the My Bulk Edit option are provided.
